Rep. John Ratcliffe statement on appointment to House Ethics Committee
WASHINGTON – Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas) issued the following statement on his appointment to the House Ethics Committee:
“As the most influential and powerful legislative body in the world, it is imperative that the United States Congress holds itself to the highest ethical standards. The American people are rightfully sick and tired of seeing constant headlines about their elected representatives engaging in inappropriate behaviors that undermine their faith in the institution.
“With this appointment to the House Ethics Committee, I intend to be firm and fair, as we work to rebuild the trust of the citizens who put us in office. My past work alongside Chairwoman Susan Brooks as U.S. attorneys makes me confident in her commitment to restoring the integrity of the People’s House, and I look forward to working with her and the rest of the Committee to deliver on this important priority.”
Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas) is a former U.S. attorney who served during the George W. Bush administration. He now serves the 4th Congressional District of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives. In addition to the House Ethics Committee, he sits on the House Judiciary Committee, and chairs the House Homeland Security Committee’s Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection.
